1) Integration of 3D animated virtual elements into a 2D environment (50%)
The student is to model, texture and light a 3D virtual set and seamlessly integrate chroma keyed video footage into the virtual enviroment. The integration will be achieved using a motion tracking application (such as PF Track), a 3D application (Maya) and compositing application (After Effects) in tandem. The sequence is to be produced at PAL resolution and should be around 10 seconds long (250 frames).
Due date: End of classes Week 10.
2) Integration of visual effects elements into a 2D environment (50%)
The student is to devise a visual effect sequence and seamlessly integrate it into a 2D environment.
The integration should use a combination of modelling, dynamic simulations, lighting and texturing in 3D and integrate the rendered images with the 2D environment using a compositing application.
The integration process will use a combination of lighting analysis, stand-in geometry and shaders to achieve the effect. The sequence is to be produced at PAL resolution and should be 10 seconds long (250 frames)
Due date: End of classes Week 17.
